Then the Rains Came

Thought you might like to see how close the water got to the train club rooms Friday week back.

We've never yet had the creek come up int the club rooms, as luckily the council keeps the creek pretty well cleared and she drains pretty well. At most we get a lake and a few roads closed as they go under and a bridge or two also go under.

Here is the view from the back of the shed looking at the creek.

Last Saturday I went for a stroll down the bank to look more closely at the creek after it was back to normal. I'd seen some lawn mowing tractor tracks crossing the creek, so knew she wasn't deep. Then it dawned on me - the bottom of this one from our rooms and heading upstream, is concrete lined at the bottom. So she is never very deep normally.

Anyway, so I was looking at the bottom of the creek for any photographic opportunities. You can see that a waterlily is already sending out new leaves.

Above we see the creek - that's it!

Almost looks like I am wading through the reeds hunting an opportunity.

So here are two photos showing the banks from the bottom of the creek looking up to give an idea of the cross sectional size of the creek.

So now you know what I might talk about in relation to the creek at the club.
